Financial Controller

I am delighted to be recruiting on behalf of my client in Kilkenny for a Financial Controller to head up the accounts department in their busy city centre 4* property. The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a Financial Controller in an Irish property.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Oversee and control all aspects of the Finance function of the Hotel.
• Work closely with the General Manager and the Senior team ensuring all HOD’s are aware of expected KPI’s including wages, GP’S and departmental margins.
• Prepare Monthly Management Accounts to strict deadlines which include Profit & Loss, KPI’S, Balance Sheet reconciliation, and Cashflow forecast.
• Lead review and update forecasts for both revenue and costs.
• Identify risks and opportunities that may affect the financial performance of the hotel.
• Prepare costings of all Capital projects for approval by Head Office.
• Monitor all Group internal controls to ensure they are being maintained and robust.
• Maximise profitability of the Hotel through commercial awareness, strict controls and input into key strategic decisions.
• Manage Cashflows ensuring bank payments fall within schedule.
• Income Audit management ensuring accuracy and no leakage of cash.
• Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis for Management and Head office.
• Preparation of annual Budgets
• Responsible for annual Audit and maintenance of files for internal review.

Candidate Requirements:

• ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA qualified with minimum 5 years post qualification experience.
• Good excel skills, computer literate with multiple systems experience – Sage, Hotsoft, Procure Wizard and Timepoint
• Previous experience in hospitality is an advantage
• Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills
• Able to coach team members
• Well-presented and approachable with impeccable attention to detail essential for this role.
