Role: Senior Accounts Assistant

We are delighted to be recruiting an experienced and motivated Senior Accounts Assistant to join the Finance Team at a 4* property in Offaly. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and detailed orientated finance professional who enjoys working in a busy hospitality environment.
The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the hotel ensuring accurate financial records, timely processing of transactions and effective financial controls.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Complete daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Aid in the preparation of budgets, forecast and financial planning
- Monitor cash flow and manage working capital effectively.
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
- Reconcile bank statements, supplier accounts, and intercompany balances.
- Aid in the preparation of monthly accounts
- Ensure timely invoicing and follow-up for payments from guests and suppliers.
- Assist in preparing for audits and liaising with external auditor.
Reporting & Analysis
- Track hotel expenses.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend strategies for improvement.
Compliance & Control
- Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, statutory audits, and company financial policies.
- Maintain strong internal controls.
Collaboration
- Work closely with the General Manager, department heads, and directors.
- Support the Financial Controller with the day-to-day finance function.
Payroll & HR Coordination
- Process staff payroll, deductions, and statutory contributions (e.g., social security, tax).
- Maintain employee financial records and liaise with HR on compensation-related matters.
Vendor & Contract Management
- Review supplier invoices and contracts to ensure accurate billing and best pricing.
- Manage relationships with vendors, auditors, and banks.
Key Skills & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or an Accounting Technician Certification (IPASS)
- Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Strong knowledge of hotel accounting systems (e.g., Hotsoft, Volante, Sage or similar).
- Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with accounts payable and receivable and bank reconciliations
- Knowledge of Irish VAT and general accounting practices
Personal Attributes
- Previous accounts/ finance experience
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong excel and IT skills
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Accounting / hospitality experience is an advantage
