I am delighted to be recruiting on behalf of my client in Kilkenny for a Director of MICE Sales for their high end property. As Director of MICE Sales, you will be responsible for identifying, securing and growing MICE business across domestic and international markets. You will develop strategic relationships with corporate clients, agencies, event planners, incentive houses and key industry stakeholders while maximising revenue opportunities across meetings, conferences, corporate retreats, incentive travel and exclusive events.
This role requires a dynamic sales leader with exceptional relationship-building skills, strong commercial acumen and a passion for hospitality.
Key Responsibilities:
MICE Sales Strategy & Business Development
- Develop and implement the MICE sales strategy in line with overall commercial objectives and annual revenue targets.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities across meetings, conferences, incentive travel, corporate retreats and special events.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate accounts, event agencies, destination management companies, incentive houses, professional conference organisers and key industry partners.
- Generate and convert high-value MICE leads through proactive sales initiatives, networking and market engagement.
- Conduct client meetings, presentations, site inspections, familiarisation visits and contract negotiations to secure new business.
Account Management & Client Engagement:
- Develop long-term partnerships with existing and prospective clients to drive repeat business and account growth.
- Deliver a consultative sales approach, understanding client objectives and tailoring bespoke event solutions.
- Ensure exceptional client engagement throughout the sales journey from enquiry through to event delivery.
- Collaborate closely with operational teams to ensure seamless handover and execution of contracted business.
Revenue & Commercial Performance:
- Drive MICE revenue performance through strategic account management, prospecting and conversion activities.
- Work collaboratively with the Revenue team to optimise pricing strategies, forecasting and business mix.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging opportunities within the MICE sector.
- Prepare regular sales forecasts, pipeline reports, account plans and performance updates for senior management.
- Analyse business trends and implement initiatives that support profitability and long-term commercial success.
Brand Representation & Market Positioning:
- Collaborate with the marketing team on targeted campaigns, promotional initiatives and content supporting MICE business development.
- Support the propertys luxury brand positioning across all sales and marketing activities.
- Identify partnership opportunities that enhance awareness and visibility within key domestic and international markets.
Team Collaboration & Leadership:
- Work closely with the Sales & Marketing team, Events Team and operational departments to achieve commercial objectives.
- Foster a culture of professionalism, collaboration, innovation and exceptional client service.
- Share market intelligence and best practices to support wider commercial success across the resort.
The Ideal Candidate
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior MICE sales role within a luxury hotel, resort or hospitality environment.
- Proven track record of delivering revenue growth and securing high-value meetings, incentives, conferences and events business.
- Strong network of corporate, agency and event industry contacts.
- Excellent commercial awareness and understanding of the MICE marketplace.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
- Strong organisational and project management capabilities.
- Experience with CRM systems, sales reporting tools and hotel sales platforms.
- Highly motivated, results-driven and relationship-focused with a proactive approach to business development.
- Flexible and adaptable with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced luxury hospitality environment.
