Director of Events
South Dublin, Full Time
**We are recruiting for a Director of Events for a 5* Property must come from a hospitality background please do not apply if you do not have 5* experience**
Responsibilities as Director of Event Management will include:
Reporting to the Director Sales and Marketing, maximise profit and guest satisfaction by managing the Meeting & Events Sales Department
Work to revenue and conversion targets
Direct day-to-day management of reactive sales & event planning to include enquiries, proposals, chasing, contracting, event planning and internal and external client face to face interactions.
Plan and assign work, manage, and oversee the work of the Meetings & Events team
Managing Meetings & Events team to deliver enquiry conversions
Overview the collaboration, management, and action on managing customer satisfaction feedback post event.
Proactively resolve any outstanding issues to achieve the required standards
Complete weekly forecasts, plans, and productivity reports for management meetings.
Completely Monthly revenue and P&L reports
Participate in the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget and financial plans. Monitor budget and upsell products and services to increase revenue
Review weekly the forthcoming months and pipeline for residential and non-residential Meetings & Events business, identify gaps and ensure pro-active measures are taken to achieve set targets in conjunction with Sales and Marketing Director
Devise creative ideas and strategies to drive business, and to up sell to clients with contracted business
Promote teamwork and the delivery of consistent 5 star service through daily communication and coordination with other departments
Responsible for recruitment and training of the Meetings & Events Team
Have a strong sales focus with an ability to build rapport easily with clients and to convert leads into confirmed bookings
Have a positive outlook and ability to project a professional image to clients both face to face and via phone/email
Deliver Brand standards
The ideal Director of Event Management will:
Strong command of the English Language
Have at least 2 – 3 years previous experience as a Senior/Director Meeting and Events Manager with proven track record in leading a large team in a high-volume environment.
Excellent Customer Service
Welcoming friendly personality and manner
Have a structured and organised work approach with an ability to prioritise workload
Provide mentoring, coaching, and regular feedback to help manage conflict and improve team member performance.
Have excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills and be able to connect with clients to manage expectations
Ability to manage guest room and meeting space inventories
Strong customer development and relationship management skills
Knowledge of Event Technology products and services
Knowledge of contract management and legalities
Strong communication skills (verbal, listening, writing)
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Opera Sales & Catering
